Elon University School of Law (Elon Law), a forward-thinking law school known for its innovative blend of experiential learning and critical scholarship, is broadening its search for candidates for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Law. UCLA Law announced that Professor Russell Korobkin will assume the position of Interim Dean of the School of Law, effective today. He replaces Jennifer Mnookin, who will travel to Madison, Wisconsin, later this summer. Korobkin has been a member of the UCLA faculty since 2001 and holds a JD from Stanford.

D. Gordon Smith has announced that he will step down as Dean of BYU Law at the end of the 2022-2023 school year. Smith became dean in 2016. Mississippi College Law School has announced John Anderson as interim dean. Anderson replaces Dean Patricia Bennett, who will step down on July 1. Anderson, who holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia, has been a member of MC Law School since 2010. The University of Washington School of Law has announced that Tamara Lawson will be the new dean of its law school. She is currently Dean and Professor of Law at St. Thomas University School of Law in Florida. Lawson, who holds a J.D. from the University of San Francisco and an LLM from Georgetown, will take office Aug. 16.

Michael Whiteman, associate dean of library services and director of the Cincinnati Law Library, has been appointed interim dean of the law school, replacing Verna Williams, who will become CEO of Equal Justice Works. Whiteman joined Cincinnati Law School in 2019 and holds a J.D. from the University of Louisville School of Law. The University of Montana School of Law`s research resulted in three finalists, but no dean. At least one candidate apparently declined an offer. After being led by a three-person team over the past few months, the university announced that effective July 1, Professor Elaine Gagliardi will serve as interim dean.

Gagliardi holds a JD from Montana and an LLM in Taxation from NYU. The University of the District of Columbia announced that Associate Dean Twinette Johnson will serve as Interim Dean of the School of Law, effective August 1. She replaces Renée Hutchins, who takes over as head of Maryland Law. Johnson, who joined UDC in 2017, holds a JD from Tulane and a PhD from St. Louis University. Albany Law School, a private, independent law school based in Albany, New York, known for its innovative blend of hands-on education and critical scholarship, is seeking applications and nominations for the positions of president and dean. In the summer of 2022, the school announced a new organizational and administrative structure as part of its bold strategic plan. Texas Southern University announced last week that it had replaced Dean Joan Bullock with a new interim dean, Okezie Chukwumerije. Bullock has been Dean since 2019. Chukwumerije, associate dean who joined the faculty in 2003, holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Benin, a Master of Laws from the University of British Columbia and a Doctor of Laws. by Osgoode Hall.
